The Laramie Project Auditions
Studio Players, Sheboygan’s unconventional and intimate theatre experience, will be holding auditions for The Laramie Project on Tuesday, September 10 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Callbacks, if necessary, will be held on Wednesday, September 11 beginning at 6:30 p.m. All auditions will be held at The Paradigm Annex Theatre, connected to Paradigm Coffee & Music on 1202 N 8th Street in Sheboygan. To audition, interested actors should prepare one of the selected monologues from the show.
Director Laurie Dillman is seeking 8-10 adult male & female actors to portray nearly 70 roles. The Laramie Project is a collection of short vignettes detailing life in Laramie, Wyoming following the death of Matthew Shepard, who was the victim of a hate crime in 1998.
Much like the themes presented in the show, The Laramie Project was recently the subject of some controversy when a high school principal decided the show was too mature for students to perform. One of the goals of Studio Players is to offer a safe space for controversial material to be presented. Actors should be aware that this show contains adult themes and language.
A cast read through will take place on Thursday, September 12. Regular rehearsals will begin Monday, September 30. Performances will take place Thursday-Saturday, November 7-9 at 7:30 p.m. A final rehearsal schedule will be determined after casting.
